Step By Step Readme
===================

A game developed by Manfred Kopp.

Starting
--------

Java 1.5 runtime or later is required to start the game.

The package contains two executable jar-files, step-by-step.jar and step-by-step_editor.jar .

To start the game/editor type
	java -jar step-by-step.jar
	java -jar step-by-step_editor.jar

Some window-managers provide double clicking/right clicking on the jar-file to
start it ("Open With Sun Java 5/6 Runtime").

The windows zip-file also contains .exe files generated with the launcher
Java4J, which automatically searches for installed java versions and downloads
java if needed.

The jar files also contain the source code.

Editor
------

The editor is just a quick hack to generate levels, which always have a solution.
Usage:
.) first rename default.level and (if you already solved one level) the
   hiscore-file .
.) Start the editor, move around to the start position and type 'B' to begin the
   trail.
.) Edit one level and save the level as default.level
.) Seting flags (ice, direction, number teleports) on the tiles is only possible
while entering the tile the first time. On the start tile it is not possible
   to set flags.
.) Editor can only handle one level at the same time. To generate a levelsets,
just save the next levels on the same name (default.level), the editor appends
the new level on the existing levelsets. A <name>.solution.txt file is also
created, which contains a solution of the levels.
.) To test the level, simply start step-by-step.

Cheats

solution-level_12-99.txt contains the solution of the levels 12-99.
