About
-----

Rollminator is the culmination of about 3 weeks work learning OpenGL. It's a fast-paced reaction-based arcade game, where you guide a rolling ball down a course to the finish line. Your ball reacts differently to the coloured tiles on the course:

Red (circle arrow) - Reverse controls
Blue (forward arrows) - Speed up
Purple (padlock) - Lock controls

Also, there are ramps that the ball will jump off to negotiate gaps in the track. You are also given a certain amount of jumps for each level, which give the ball enough air to jump a small gap in the course. To use a jump, press the cursor up key.

To make full use of the game's music features, get an mp3 and copy to the data dir, renaming it to "music.dat". This music file will then play in game.

Currently, there are no sound effects other than the mp3 player, and there are 10 levels, two of which are not complete, but the game is completable :)

Issues
------

There are so many hardware issues with this game. Firstly, you need the latest graphics drivers for your card, and at least DirectX 7. The graphics card MUST be 3d-accelerated, and works best with NVidia cards.

There are all sorts of timing issues. I think it's mostly to do with the VSync on the card. I have my VSync turned on, and without it the game runs unplayably fast. Of course, different processor speeds and card speeds all affect the speed and playability of the game.

Just for reference, my spec is: Pentium 3 @ 450Mhz, 256mb ram and an NVidia Geforce 2 GTS. It runs fine on that.

If it fails to run
------------------

Is your graphics card 3d accelerated?
Do you have the very latest drivers for it?
Have you tried running GLSetup from www.glsetup.org?
Do you have DirectX 7 or later installed?
Is there a directory called Data and a directory called Maps in the same dir as the exe?
Did the files in data and maps copy from the zip okay?
Have you tried copying bass.dll to your windows\system32 dir?
