DropBlox pre-alpha v0.001 by Johnny Ernest (sinistrx@hotmail.com)
-----------------------------------------------------------------

This is the first pre-alpha release of my first OpenGL game (ok I
think this is my first game period) entitled DropBlox. At the moment
this is just a straight up Tetris clone (I sure hope I don't get sued
for this even though I'm not claiming any copyrights and this isn't
even a full release) but I plan on adding a lot of features and making
this a completely different kind of puzzle game which will keep you
up until 6 in the morning (just like I am right now).

Instructions
------------
Up - Rotate
Left/Right - Move Piece
Down - Drops Faster
P - Pause
Esc - Quit
Tab - Restarts when game is over

Requirements
------------
You need an OpenGL accelerated card to run this game, that means that
if you went out and bought some OEM computer with a
"Direct3d Integrated 2x AGP" chip you just got screwed my friend, sorry,
that's how manufacturers hide the fact that they're cutting corners.
Also Voodoo 3's might have a problem though I doubt it because I'm not
using any stencil buffering operations for the game. I've tested this
on a p3/500 with a 32meg card in win98 and it runs fine. Slower computers,
especially ones with less than 16 megs of video memory even OpenGL
accelerated ones might have a problem with slowdown.

Known Bugs
----------
1) If you're moving a block under another piece from the side it will be
offset some (you'll see it eventually), reworking this would mean
restructuring my whole code which has taken me a month so far to make
(that doesn't account for time I've had programmer's block). I figure
I'll leave this in as a small advantage to the player since by the time
they get to level 20 they'll be up the creek anyway.
2) There's a little blip on level 2 where you can see one of the columns
flickering, it's actually drawing it twice based on my sin/cos code,
I'll have it fixed next release again it's 6am I need some rest and
I feel like making a release tonight. (:

Things I Want to Add for the Next Release
-----------------------------------------
1) A Title Screen!!!!!!
2) I need more background animations (notice it stops changing after
level 3) and I'm running out of ideas within the scope of my
programming knowledge that wouldn't take me 6 months to do so if
you like the game, you're a programmer or a darn good low poly 3d
modeler, whatever the case, look in the contact info and get ahold
of me I really need some help on this and I'll give you full credit.
A few requests if you're interested, I have some md2 model loading
code so if anyone can do me a scene with like someone breakdancing
or a sweet hockey game going in the background that would rock.
3) Some good music would be nice, again if you wanna help look in
the contact info. See above, I'm kind of looking for techno/rock
but nothing real generic sounding. (that's vague but I'm fairly
   leniant)
4) This is way advanced but maybe making a background animation file
format which users could configure their own background scenes and
load them on which ever levels they wish, I don't see this happening
anytime soon but it would be nice for people to add in their own
   things to the game.
5) I need to restructure the game so it's not a Tetris clone so I
don't have something bad happen where I get my computer taken away
by a bunch of guys in suits with Tetris logos on their jackets (have
you read the legal info on tetris.com? Scary!). Maybe adding some
cool stuff like bombs, timed block height increasing, different
types of blocks instead of just quads, etc etc.
6) Head to head tcp/ip and local, of course you knew I'd say that.
7) Some more cool effects to the actual game code.
8) An options menu, which kind of goes along with a TITLE SCREEN (smirk)
I'll have to figure out which kind of options I want to put in,
basically I want to make this a fully configurable game for the
   halfway knowledgable user.

Money
-----
This game is free, yes totally free, and even when I get a full release
it'll still be free, why?
1) I'm using fmod (oh yeah that's my underlying credit for fmod btw) for
the sound, can't charge ya without paying upwards of a $1000 for just
   this game, not worth it.
2) To piss off people who make you pay for Tetris clones.
3) To get you hooked on later stuff I'll be coding that I might charge for.
(hey college kids have to make money somehow)
