Creative Crafting I (Release Candidate 3)

Disclaimer: If it blows up your machine it's not our fault.

Description:

Creative Crafting I is a prototype of a crafting mini game for MMORPGs. Current MMORPGs give
no visual feedback while a user is crafting. Creative Crafting I explores using a mini game
to give feedback to the user during crafting in an MMORPG. As an example it only focuses on
smithing (weapons and shields). As an extra it also explores adding an ornament from a pool
of item ornaments to each crafted item (to make it unique). For the most part, the mechanics
of what you receive or how fast you advance in crafting are beyond this prototype.

Release Candidate 3 contains tweaks for bur spawn speed and size. It also contains an item
naming system. The names are based on the item type (your style of play) and the ornament
that gets attached to the item. There are now 10 ornaments and they are saved on the
apprentice crafted items as well.

Instructions:

Select either a sword of a shield from the menu.

The object of the mini game is to flatten the burs that appear on the sword or shield with
your smithing hammer. Each black bur is worth 1 pount, each red bur is worth 5 points, each
orange bur is worth 10 points, each yellow bur is worth 25 points, and each white bur is
worth 50 points. You need a total of 100 points to complete the crafting of an item. You
will receive gold depending on how well you crafted the item.

Each bur color determines how an item will look. Whichever bur color generated the most
points towards crafting the item will determine how the end item looks. There are 5
different looks per item. Depending how much of a bur was used to craft the item will
also effect the look of the item.

Once you have successfully crafted an item it will store the design. Once a design is
stored you can click on the apprentice icon next to each item to have an apprentice
create that item for you. The apprentice will craft the item to your stored design.
The ornament will be different on every item reguardless of who crafts it. The
apprentice will charge 25 gold to craft the item for you. You will receive no skill
for having an apprentice make an item for you.

Feedback:

You will receive visual feedback on how far along in the crafting process you are in the
form of a progress bar above the crafting item. Once you reach 100% on the progress bar
the object is complete. At the top of the screen are 5 icons with numbers attached. From
left to right, gold, smithing, skill, swords, shields.

*Gold - You receive an amount of gold for each item depending on how well you crafted the
item. Don't miss burs.

*Smithing - You receive one smithing for each bur you flatten.

*Skill - You receive an amount of skill based on how well you crafted the item. Your skill
is cumulative across all crafted items. Your skill is added to the starting points. So if
you have 5 skill each crafting item starts at 5 (maximum of 80 skill). If you select to
have an apprentice make an item for you they will not use your skill.

*Swords - Gives the total amount of swords you have crafted.

*Shields - Gives the total amount of shields you have crafted.
