Differences Between Challengo and Challengo CC
==============================================

Note: Throughout this file, Challengo CC will be referred to as CCC.

General
-------

Challengo and CCC are on different engines. CCC runs on the Chip's Challenge engine, while Challengo runs on its own engine.

Everything in Challengo was created from scratch. CCC borrowed Challengo's graphics and runs the game on the Chip's Challenge engine, made possible with CCTools.

Graphics
--------

Graphics for Challengo were created first. They were then adapted to CCC by saving non-animated sprites as a bitmap spreadsheet.

Many sprites in Challengo are animated. All sprites in CCC are non-animated because the Chip's Challenge engine does not allow for animation.

Sound
-----

Challengo has one song that stays on all levels.

CCC supposedly contains the songs that were packaged with the Windows Entertainment Pack version, titled "chips01.mid", "chips02.mid", and "canyon.mid". The songs rotate depending on the level.

Both Challengo and CCC use sounds from the Windows Entertainment Pack.

Gameplay
--------

Since CCC runs on a Chip's Challenge engine, it contains significantly less objects than Challengo. There are less basic objects, obstacles, monsters, and items. However, CCC has thin walls, which Challengo does not have.

CCC has tile-by-tile movement while Challengo has smooth movement, making certain things a little different: for example, it is harder to dodge monsters in Challengo since Ray can't "jump" squares (although at the same time it is easier to tell where the monsters are going in Challengo).

There are less glitches and problems in CCC because it runs on a Chip's Challenge engine. One factor is the smooth movement in Challengo, which brings up many glitches associated with smooth movement (getting stuck, etc.).

Bear traps in CCC do not have a separate sprite depending on whether it is opened or closed, so it is harder to tell.

The only socket present in CCC is the silver socket.

There is an exclusive point shard to CCC: the silver point shard. The required number of silver point shards in a level must be collected before silver sockets can be opened. No other point shard variations are present in CCC.

In CCC, eyeballs do not seek around walls to get to Ray.

Clone machine direction is not denoted with different sprites for blocks and most monsters in CCC, while in Challengo, all otherwise ambiguous clone machine directions are denoted with red arrows.

Blocks can pass over wall traps in Challengo, but cannot pass over wall traps in CCC.

Disci in CCC treat fire as walls, while disci in Challengo die when touching fire.

There is no glass case in CCC because monsters and blocks already treat all point shards as solid objects.

Signs act as solid objects to blocks and monsters in CCC.

One-tile force fields that oppose Ray's direction can be passed in CCC as long as Ray has been sliding on ice and presses a direction.

The mouse can be used to control Ray in CCC.

In Challengo, white keys are the only keys that can open more than door. In CCC, green keys are the keys that open more than one door. White keys do not exist in CCC.

There are probably other differences as well.
