This program was written to allow you to create/edit
bomberman levels for use with Fury's Bomberman (which
is, in my opinion, the best one on the net by far).
Visit his site at http://fury94.free.fr

This is just a little guide so you can figure out how
this program works.

There are several different types of tiles available:
1) None - used to clear a tile in the grid
2) Block - solid and impenetrable tile
3) Brick - tiles able to be destroyed with bombs
4) Floor - just the plain old floor to walk on
5) The five player start point tiles (only one per
player allowed. you should specify all of them)

Level Requirements:
-There may be no blank tiles
-Diagonal movements should not be used
-All 5 player start points should be included

Controls:
-Hold CTRL and LEFT click over a tile in the grid
sets the left selected tile
-Hold CTRL and RIGHT click sets the right tile
-Select the left/right tile by clicking on the icons
in the top right corner
-RIGHT clicking the left tile preview sets the right
tile
-LEFT clicking the right tile preview sets the left
tile

Buttons:
-The "Fill Floor" button may be used to set all
floor tiles in the grid to the selected left tile
-The "Clear Floor" button clears all tiles on the floor
-The "Show Grid" check box allows you to toggle the
display of the horizontal and vertical lines within
the grid
-"New" creates a new blank level
-"Load" allows you to open an existing level file
-"Save" allows you to save your level
-"Save As" allows you to choose a filename then save
your level
-"Settings" allows you to adjust the level editor
settings
-"Close" closes the program (bet you couldn't have
figured that out)

Information:
When the editor starts, the grid is surrounded by
solid blocks and the standard grid design because every
level should be this way. You merely build around it.
This design prevents illegal designs which allow
diagonal movement (which causes problems with AI).
This design may not be altered.

You must save your level in the proper Bomberman Level
directory for it to be loaded when you play. In addition,
if you do not save it with a valid name, it can not be
loaded into the game. The valid format is:
  Ln.txt
where the "n" is a number between 1 and 10. For example:
  L9.txt
is a valid name, but the following are invalid:
  L11.txt // must be between 1 and 10
  L5.map // must be a .txt file

The program works very much like an image editor
(such as MS-Paint). So if you're familiar with that
sort of thing, this should be a piece of pumpkin pie.

Tips:
-make sure you leave enough room around the player
start points for the player to set a bomb and hide
around the corner, so he doesn't blow himself up
-don't leave too many floor tiles in or it may end
up with too many gaps.

HISTORY:
Ver 1.02 - 12/12/02
  - Added "Settings" button - the only setting you can
change as of thus is the default level directory
to start in when you want to load or save a level
  - Fixed bug that allowed you to save with diagonal
movements by closing and saying 'yes' to 'save?'
  - Fixed bug: was incorrectly calculating diagonal
movement squares (improper placement of a paren)
  - Prettied up the interface just a tad
  - Display warning if you save the level with an
    invalid name
  - Made your browser pop open and go to Fury's web
site when you open the about box the first time,
but I took it back off as I don't want to annoy
    people

Ver 1.01 - 12/11/02
  - Unforced standard level as template of level
  - Fixed bug: didn't remember the player start
    points when loading a level

Ver 1.0 - 12/10/02
  - Force standard level design as base of a level (no
    more diagonal movements may occur)
  - Display warning but now allow save if not all start
    points are used
  - Decided to give it rank of "version" now

Beta 6 - 12/10/02
  - Forced the file path to fit on the titlebar

Beta 5 - 12/09/02
  - Fixed bug where "Do you want to save?" was being
asked even though you already saved the level
  - Fixed bug where "You haven't used all players" was
popping up after you loaded a level then tried to
    save it
  - Added "Save As" button
  - Thanks to Christian Salzmann for reporting the bugs
    and suggestions!

Beta 4 - 12/04/02
  - Replaced drop-down tile lists with clickable
    icons for tile selection
  - When "Show Grid" is not checked the grid lines
are the color of the floor (instead of white). It
still looks a little weird when all the tiles are
set, but it looks good when a lot of floor is
    showing
  - If you set a tile as a player that already exists
somewhere else, the old tile is set to floor
  - Stopped loading the bitmap for each tile every
    time it's drawn (how stupid). I didn't realize I
    had coded it that way.

Beta 3 - 12/03/02
  - Disallow save if any blank tiles
  - Disallow save if any diagonal movements possible
  - Disallow save if not all spawnpoints included
  - CTRL+Click to select tiles
  - Put a border rect around the preview tiles
  - Redraw the grid when you press "New" (this was
causing mouse movements to appear to erase tiles)
  - Eliminated the flicker of tiles when you move the
    mouse over
  - Outer border is permanent
  - Do not draw selection on outer border
  - Eliminate the "blank" tiles. Floor tiles are what
you now use to clear tiles (they are the default)
  - "Clear All" is now "Clear Floor"
  - "Fill All Blanks" is now "Fill Floor"

Beta 2 - 11/29/02
  - Enabled the Show Grid check box (very useless
    though)
  - Allowed click-drag to fill tiles
  - Click tile preview to set the other tile
  - Now using brushes, etc as members so we don't
recreate then delete them every redraw of the grid
(should've been this way from the start)

Beta 1
  - Initial release

Thanks:
- Of course to Fury for his kick-ass mod of a classic
game!
- Christian Salzmann for bug-reporting and some good
suggestions
